IO error reading block

i get the following error when running a SQL query (Oracle 8.1.5, Solaris 2.6):

ORA-01115: IO error reading block from file 17 (block # 16610)
ORA-01110: data file 17: '/ngodb02/ngora01/data05/sequence_data08.dbf'
ORA-27091: skgfqio: unable to queue I/O
SVR4 Error: 25: Inappropriate ioctl for device Additional information: 16578

anyone had experience with this type of error and can advise?
