Try putting in HTML formatting.
Can you add "pre-sqlplus" commands to put tags in the heading, at column breaks, ...?
Or can you write a conversion program to convert to HTML? If you give the output a filename with an extension of .htm, you can launch it directly in Internet Explorer for printing from there.
