Hi,
How is the performance of Oracle 8.0.5 partitioning option? I have a transaction request type and there in 10 sub-types. Each transaction type can refer only 1 sub-type at a time. These sub-types have around 20 columns.
There is a debate whether to have a single table with 200 odd fields. We are looking at performance and locking issues in this kind of design.
We are planning to have a partitioning based on subtypes with a local index. But we were told that partitioning on Windows NT option is not really a performance gainer.
Is that true?
Please do get back.

Regards
