I don't know about 8.1.6, but in moving from 7.3.4 to 8.1.5 we found a few stored procedures that compiled in 7.3.4 would no longer compile in 8.1.5. Nothing major. Also v8 needs a lot more space in the system tablespace than v7. I'd add another 200M before the move.
