Has anyone opened two connections successfully from one process in Oracle: one that is XA, and the other that is a non-XA connection ?

We were able to open both :
a) a non-XA connection that is explicitly named, b) an XA connection

However, any DB work that is done using the XA connection is not committed to Oracle. The work done with the non-XA connection is committed to the DB.
