Allorio,

To do this, I created an oracle7 user and an oracle8 user for NT, granted administrator group rights to each oracle user, and then installed.

You will need to install each with a different oracle_home, but they can reside on the same drive.

I would install oracle 7 first, and then 8. I think 7 tries to overlay anything that is already there. Oracle 8 is more willing to share.

You can have multiple services (instances) on NT, so that isn't a problem, but you may see problems starting the database or stopping it as the administrator account (box reboot, etc.). This is due to path discrepancies between the 2. To solve this, I think you have to specify the O7 path first, followed by O8. Oracle 8 seems to know where it lives, so this solves the problem for O7.

You can choose the listener configuration, but running a single listener for both may be advantagous. You can run the O8 listener for an O7 database instance.

Good luck,

Brent Tucker
