Hi,

I have an interesting situation. I am using SQL Loader to load a bunch of records in french from a text file into database tables. My 8.0.5 Database is created using the WE8ISO8859P1 charcter set which supports western european languages. The instance is running on a Sun Solaris 2.6 OS.

The problem is that when I do the load the special characters vanish from the loaded data. I specify the same character set in my SQL Loader control file also but the special characters still vanish...I know my Solaris box supports the character set bcos when I do a cat on the text file I see the special characters.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Has anyone encountered the problem before while loading French,Spanish or German data into the Oracle database.

thx,
-anil
