At Agnew Moyer Smith, we're looking for a good software developer.
If you were born to code, have a history of writing clean software,
and want to do some really cool stuff at a really great place, then
read on.
Here's what we're looking for:
- Smarts: Do you think through problems, make good decisions quickly,
and keep your wits about you at all times?
- Ability: Do you have an uncanny skill for solving difficult problems
by writing clean, crisp software?
- Knowledge: Do you have a good education (BSCS/CSE/EE preferred) and
a demonstrable command of software development lore, legend, and
practice? (An observable expertise in the field will make up for
lacking a degree.)
- Skills: Do you know Linux, NT, MacOS, Perl, CGI, SQL, RDBMS, C++,
JavaScript, Java, UML, client-server development, or OO methods?
(The more, the better.)
- Personality: Do you work well with others, remain jovial even when
accepting criticism, and have friends who consider you the most
level-headed, easiest-going programmer they know? Are you driven
to do good work, even when the going gets tough?
- Communications: Can you write well and make yourself understood?
Can you hold up your end of a discussion, debate, meeting, or
presentation?
If you honestly answered Yes to the above questions (or at least an
overwhelming majority of them), we want to offer you a great place to
work.
Agnew Moyer Smith is a communication, planning, and design firm whose
main offices are located in Pittsburgh's old Clark Candy Factory. We
help companies large and small to create and communicate their ideas.
More and more, we're developing software as a means to that end, and
our software, as you might imagine, isn't the run of the mill kind of
stuff. From applets, scripts, and web sites to client-server systems,
intranets, and database publishing factories, our software projects
are as diverse as our client list. Caterpillar, McDonald's, and
Steelcase are just a few of the companies we work with, and with
clients so varied, we can ensure a steady stream of interesting
and challenging projects for the right programmer.
If you're that programmer, here's what you can expect from us:
- Exceptional compensation: We value our employees and compensate them
accordingly. Competitive pay, full medical, 401(k), profit sharing,
comp time, paid vacations/holidays, and career advancement are all
standard at AMS, and you'll get them.
- Spacious, open workspace: We custom build
our workspaces so that you'll have plenty of storage and shelving,
ergonomic keyboard and mouse platforms, and -- most importantly --
large work surfaces on which you can comfortably rest a whole
heaping load of computers, monitors, and other digital needs.
Trust us, you'll love it.
- Office that's made for you: We designed and built our office from
floor to ceiling to support the way we work. It's open, quiet, well
lit, and sports a kitchen, numerous team rooms, presentation
facilities, and just about everything else you might want in a
workplace -- including all the good, fresh-brewed coffee you can
drink.
- Friendly, supportive coworkers: Think of us like a big family, but
without the sibling rivalry. We're a fun bunch to work with. In
fact, we even build fun into the workweek: Tuesday is bagel day and
Friday is pastry day -- we supply the food, you eat it.
