Hi,

I think that Oracle8 LOB's datatype are better to store JPEG than RAW or LONG RAW.
LOB are more flexible.
You can store up to 4GB of binaries data, in a table or externally (BFILE), you can have more than one LOB per row, and other important features.

Have a look on Oracle 8 Application Developer's Guide.
