After looking at the Oracle site, I understand that to license Oracle even on Linux will cost an extreme amount of money...

The "Power Unit" license (which I believe is used in cases where # of end-users is not known, i.e., Website back-end) is calculated as follows:

# processors * Mhz of each processor * Power Unit Price ($40.00 for Oracle 8i Standard)

So, for a dual 400Mhz machine, it would cost $32,000 to run license Oracle on your linux website backend!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this all true! Am I mistaken?? I did not realize it was soooooo damn pricey... Received on Tue Sep 14 1999 - 10:12:34 CDT
