Oracle has an article on RAID configurations concerning performance and current RAID technology. They say that RAID 0+1 has the overall best read /write performance for Oracle and they say that even with newer hardware RAID5 and caching technologies, it can still may
not be able to cope. They go on to say that feedback from customers has been to
