It would have helped if you would have specified Oracle version and platform You should look in the listener.log file in %ORACLE_HOME%|$ORACLE_HOME\[network|net80]\log and the trace file in the trace directory. One of these should hold the exact error.
If that doesn't work change trace_level_listener to 16 in listener.ora and retry the operation.
