If it's OPS in a cluster with shared disks then you may be stuck with raw regardless of the performance boost or admin headaches. Setup-wise I don't consider it any more of a pain than using file systems assuming you're following commonsense file-placement and disk-partitioning conventions in both cases.

Before deployment, practice practice practice your backup/recovery procedures, simulate some power failures and disk failures, and so on.
