Hi there,
Raw devices are not that Hard to Manage these days with various Volume Managers and Backup Softwares Available. Besides you should consider getting as much performance gains as possible especially if they provide like 20% better Performance than File Systems..But again , you may need to Bench Mark before deciding ..
FYI Oracle Recommends Using Raw DEvices for Redo Log files becos they are serial in nature .

But you can also close in the Performance gaps between FileSystem and Raw devices if you can Create Filesystems with FORCEDIRECT option which bypasses the Unix Buffer Cache similar to Raw Devices..
