HOWTO: Recover database from tablespace files?

Is is possible to recover a database in Oracle from the tablespace files
alone? I have a customer who had to reinstall NT and then reinstalled Oracle
7.3.4 over the previous installation.



At this point, the reinstallation does not appear to be entirely successful
and they cannot connect to the database via OEM. I'm trying to figure out
how they might recover their data if they have to completely reinstall
Oracle.
