Oracle 8i configuration--Help

hi all,

I have installed Oracle 8i on a solaris machine. There is a problem which iam not able to solve, while installing it shows me a problem as such JNLS
Exception:oracle.ntpg.jnls.JNLSException, Character set not found etc. etc..
Also all the files are owned by oinstall group. where does dba ownership come into picture??
Moreoveri can't start sqlplus too,
please help me.
