Hard to say.  How is the disk configured? Raid 5 or 0+1? I would expect to
see slower update speed on a RAID 5 system over a RAID 0+1.  Use both your
OS utilities (iostat, sar) and oracle utilities (utlbstat/utlestat) to find
out which disks are getting hit really hard.  That should shed some light on
which LUNS need to be optimized.
