Benjamin, you ought to know what the hell you're talking about before you run off at the mouth.! Man, I hate it when people blame the software for their ignorance. Oracle's not perfect by anymeans, but it's damn good for as huge and complicated a piece of software as it is.
The problem here is that Mandrake 6.0 has the glibc 2.1.1 version release of the libraries and Oracle 8.0.5 was developed with the 2.0.7 release (the version released with Mandrake 5.3 and Red Hat 5.2).
There is a patch for this Sundar. Go to technet.oracle.com and look for the glibcpatch.z and the instructions. It will clear up all of your problems.
