Oracle 8i 8.1.5 was certified against RH 6.0, which contains newer versions of some packages, specifically glibc 2.1. I am not sure if a simple upgrade of glibc from the 2.0 found in RH5.2 to 2.1 will be sufficient.

Oracle 8.0.5.x was built against RH5.2.
