HELP!! Oracle 7 client with Oracle 8 DB

When I try to access an Oracle 8 Database through an
Oracle 7 client I get the following error:



ORA-3106: fatal Two Task communiation protocol error.



I get this on both NT and Solaris clients. Is there
a way around this? Or do I have to have an Oracle 8 client
to access the Oracle 8 DB?
