Regarding WebDB, we're running 2.0.5.7.1 on AIX 4.2.1, against Oracle
7.3.4, using the webdb listener.
Among the problems I'm having:
-I'd rather be using our Netscape Enterprise server, but the damn cgi
simply won't run. Environment variables are set, webdb will load via
the Oracle supplied listener, but damn if I can get the cgi to run.
-I can't seem to get bind parameters to work. I denote them with a :
prefix, and they show up in the wizard as such. I go to the parameter
screen, enter the parameters, click Run Report, and wham, nothing is
bound (I've selected "show query" and I can see that the bind
parameters do not show a bound value).
-Some objects refuse to be renamed. I've got one report that simply
won't let itself be renamed. What gives?
-I'm building components in a schema (B) other than the one I'm logging
in as (A). I've granted "browse in" privileges to B on A, I've granted
SELECT to B on most of the tables in A, and yet, when trying to build a
report via the wizard, it doesn't see any of A's tables! WTF?
Boy, this product does a lot to make you feel stupid. Perhaps my first mistake was following their directions (or buying into the hype, I'm not sure which). Hey Oracle, if these features don't friggin' work, say so in the damn release notes!
Where to from here?
-John
