Hi there,

I have two serious problems with Oracle 8.1.5 and the Borland Database Engine. I have two PCs (Win NT 4.0 SP4) with Oracle 8.1.5 server and the Borland database engine (BDE) 5.01. On PC #1 I can connect from BDE to Oracle, but when running an application which uses BDE I get the error message "access violation in module 'OraClient8.dll' ". On PC #2 I changed the DBA passwords. The effect is that I am not longer able to connect to the DB via the LOCAL BDE. ("User name or password unknown. ORA-24324 service handle not initialized"). To make it completely fuzzy: With the BDE on the PC #1 I still get a connection to the Oracle-DB on PC # 2.
What the hell goes wrong there??
Thanks for any help!
Lothar Merz
