Listener suicidal

Seems like every couple of days the listener dies with: TNS-12431: TNS:cannot allocate memory

I'm only using 130M or so out of over a gig (according to top). There is a process that connects every minute from elsewhere. Any clues? I haven't traced yet, given how sporadic this is. The db is bounced every night.
