Oracle8 DB Init Files - Where ?

We are running Oracle 8.0.5.1 On Digital Unix.



Can someone answer the following:



When I connect as SVRMGR and issue



SVRMGR> connect internal


Connected.


SVRMGR> startup



  where does startup look for the db init files ?



  is it



/disk1/oracle/o805/dbs





or



/disk1/oracle/admin/sid          sid = database sid name





 also, what is the admin directory used for ?
