I can't connect as a user authenticated by the operating system.

We're running Oracle 7.3.4 on NT Server 4

I've set database parameters
  os_authent_prefix = ""
  remote_os_authent = true

User id = 'JTEST' (who is a valid network user)

I should not have to enter a password when I try to connect from SQL*Plus. When I do, I get prompted for password. When I enter a password I get can't connect error.

What am I missing?
