We are switching a custom development project from C++ using CORBA
as business object layer to JAVA . I'm suggesting we go to Oracle 8i
and use jdbc. Couple of questions:
1) Can anybody help me make a pitch for 8i in this situation? Frankly,
I'm anxious
for the new technology but I'm sure there are good justifications.
2) Developers want a Type IV JDBC driver. If you had a magic wand, and
could get any setup you wanted.. what would you pick...

Any suggestions for beefing up on this type of architecture with 8i. I
haven't done
any development in 3 years. Visual C++ - presentation/application JAVA
