RR, in my humble opinion, is a kludge...

It is a sliding window type of format that looks at the year to determine the century...51 or greater = 2000 ( I think, it may be lower or higher but that's the general idea)...

I much prefer to use YYYY in all date formats to avoid the problem now and in the future...( Y2K,Y10K, etc )

Also be aware the settings on the client PC will override any on the database itself, and, if any NLS_ parameters are set on the client, ALL unset NLS_ parameters will be set to the Oracle default ( usually DD-MON-YY - not Y2K compliant )
