Hi,

What do you mean by the instance isn't running ? If you mean that OracleServiceSID is not running this is the problem. This servie is actually not the instance but the RDBMS process. On NT, all Oracle process are running as threads and are start either by launching OracleStartSID or by doing an "startup mount" (in svrmgrxx).
