Best version to buy?

Hi! I am looking to purchase a version of Personal Oracle for Win 98 for self-training. While my initial reaction would be to buy the latest and greatest (8i), I need to be able to support 7.3.4, as my company just implemented Applications 10.7 on this database version. What are the major differences between the versions? If each one is an improvement, why does Oracle still market all three versions (7,8,and 8i)? And If I did purchase and create databases using 8i, will they be compatible with my 7.3.4 enterprise system?
Bottom line: Which one should I buy??
Sorry for the newbie question, but I am relatively new to the world of oracle!! Thanks. Received on Mon Jul 12 1999 - 23:19:12 CDT
