Hello,

I recently set up a database link to a remote database. When I try to query it, I get the following message:

ORA-2042 Too many distributed transaction.

After about 2 hours I finally figured that the REMOTE database needed the DISTRIBUTED_TRANSACTIONS parameter.

My question is, what is a distributed transaction and how does Oracle decide when a transaction is distributed and when it is not???

Please cc a copy to e-mail......

Thanks,

Arthur
