I've just installed Oracle 8i (Personal Edition) on a server. I put the development tools on another machine (Win98) to do some c/s development. Whenever I bring up SQL*Plus on the client my proxy server connects to the internet. The Oracle server is on the inside of my network running a 192.168.* address.

SQL*Plus (or Toad or whatever) works fine after the connection to my ISP is made. Even if the ISP connection drops everything is peachy. My internal DNS tables say quite plainly that the Oracle machine is on the internal network.

What is causing this behavior? Where do I look on the client machine to stop this from happening? Received on Sat Jul 03 1999 - 09:13:05 CDT
