1-Put the database in archive log mode. This is an ongoing thing, so once you do it, don't turn it off. Make sure you have a procedure for backing the archive logs off to tape or have a whols s***pot full of disk drives.

2-When the time comes to do the backup, put the tablespaces in Backup mode. Use the OS/whatever software to copy the files to backup media. Take the tablespaces out of backup mode.

The ADMIN guide will tell you how to set up archiveing and how to play with the tablespaces.
