If you shutdown normal or shutdown immediate yes.

If you shutdown abort and back it up -- you will not be able to roll this backed up instance forward.

You should *not* backup online redolog files for an archive log mode database (you should definitely NOT restore them).

You technically do not need to save the archived redo log *when you back up the instance* during a cold backup unless you have an older cold backup you might want to apply them to. You do want to back up and save archived redo log generated AFTER the backup to roll forward with.

You might consider getting the backup and recovery handbook (amazon will find it fast for you). backup and recovery is a complex subject and not to be taken lightly (if you value your data that is :)
