Completely agree with you.
Anurag, you could also look at v$lock or v$locked_object to see which
locks are
currently active, or run %ORACLE_HOME%/rdbms73/admin/utlockt.sql to
mention a few options.
But you posted your initial question on Sunday, when at least I can't
verify the validity of several approaches: no personal oracle on my own
PC. Usenet is a volunteer business, we're not getting paid
(and then both Jonathan and myself would probably get rich).
