Identifying whether a particular lock is active or not.

Is'nt there anybody who can answer This .If yes i am sending the question again with this mail

Is there a way i can assign a number to a lock (select ... for update) and then find out from some other procedure that whether that particular

lock is active or not. Please Help me out with this or suggest some other method to do this.
