8.05 Client corrupts TEMP environment variable

We just installed Oracle 8.05 client on half our machines. It appears to have replaced the TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP environment value with

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ie 21 x's. The clients are Win95, and the TEMP
variable is fine before you enter Win 95, and fine after you leave Win 95. If you are in Windows and go to a DOS box then type SET, it displays all the normal values, except TEMP which has been replaced with
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

For example
SET <ENTER> displays, amongst other things: PATH=C:\ORAWIN95\BIN

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP We have an entry for TMP and for TEMP. The TMP value is not changed, only TEMP. I have inserted other SET variables before TEMP, but TEMP is always changed, so it is not dependent on the position in the Autoexec.bat or within the Environment space.

Now programs that rely on the TEMP variable to tell them where to create temporary files do not work.

This does not happen on the other half of the machines that were not upgraded. They display both. I'm pretty certain that it is the Oracle 8.05 client causing the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? How do I solve it? Received on Thu Jun 24 1999 - 22:23:30 CDT
