Develop web appl. using Oracle 8i

Hi,

I'm new to Oracle. I have Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition. I want to develop web application to access the Oracle database. I have look through quite a lot of books and most of them is teaching deploying web application using OAS.

I don't have OAS in my package. From Oracle Web site, it said Oracle 8i is internet ready. So my question is Do I need OAS for my above purpose?? Thanks a lot of advice.
