After applying all the necessary patches to AIX to upgrade to 8i, the Oracle installer STILL fails to run. So, we're going to at least upgrade to 7.3.4.

(1) Is the "UPGRADE" option offered by the installer a "safe" option,
or have you experienced troubles?

(2) Do we need to create a new database or can we use our existing .dbf
files?

(3) Will any of the .ora files get overwritten?
