Regards, all;

A project I'm working on involves the implementation of an HP-UX V-Series server, running HP-UX 11 in a 64-bit mode.

We need to migrate an application from Oracle 7.3.2.3 running in 64-bit Oracle on a Digital Alpha to this HP-UX. The question:

  1. Are there any significant disadvantages to running Oracle 7.x 32-bit on the HP-UX OS (64-bit)? i.e. memory utilization, full use of the OS, optimization, stability, etc.
  2. What is 'riskier'? Migrating from Oracle 7.x 64-bit on a DEC-Unix to Oracle 7.x 32-bit on an HP-UX, or Migrating from Oracle 7.x 64-bit on a DEC-Unix to Oracle 8.x 64-bit on an HP-UX?
