Oracle 8i Personal Edition Install error: MTS_DISPATCHERS

After Oracle 8i Personal Edition ( 8.1.5 for MS Windows NT) installation process ran to completion without any error, the following errors appeared one after the other during the "Initializing Database" phase:

ORA-00101 invalid specification for system parameter MTS_DISPATCHERS

IRA-00102 network protocol (ADDRESS=(PARTIAL=YES)(PROTOCOL=TCP))

---

ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

I chose the "Typical Installation." This was on a notebook computer with 96MB RAM and 200MB swap file. There was no previous installation of any version of Oracle on this machine. It is running NT4/SP4.

Any tips would be appreciated.
