Sorry if this sounds a little rough, but the above statement is a nonsense.

RAID5 has some disadvantages and also a lot of advantages when used for a database environment. It all depends on the type of the database application. In any case, you must understand how the database works and how the RAID5 works - from there on it is self evident if RAID5 is suitable for your application and if it is, which part of the system should you put on a RAID5 and which parts must be avoided on it.
