Sorry, no, this was just reading the manual (horror, shock, gasp) for 8.1 which gives the latency of most Unix interconnects in the order of 10s of milliseconds, but the latency of the VIA interconnect as 1 millisecond.

Coincidentally I attended a presentation yesterday where one of the UK support team was describing Cache Fusion, and pointed out that the super-improvement in performance demo that they did was done on NT (Compaq) for exactly that reason.
