We are using Forms 5.0 with JInitiator (our DBA is fanatical about using the
latest versions
of almost everything, so I'm guessing it it the latest......)...They are
deployed over an
Intranet using a Solaris box. Most of the Forms that are having problems
were straight (no CASE-generated) Forms
which were not designed with Web-constrictions in mind.
I would expect that your users are going to have to expect slower
performance in general - this is just one of
the problems that goes along with the web-deployed anything compared to
client-server.
Performance picks up after the classes are loaded, of course, but some of
our folks were waiting 10-15 minutes
for that to happen....which is pretty unacceptable.
Frankly, users have become accustomed to the interfaces and navigation and,
importantly,
speed, of client-server applications....our user-base is definitely not
happy with the web-based
deployment and is now pushing hard on the IT department to bring back
client-server....
and since web-based form's maintenance can actually be higher than
client-server in some respects...IT is starting to listen...
One project finally took all of the Forms and made ONE Form out of it with
multiple (30?)
canvases to try and solve the slow download time - I haven't got feedback on
that one yet....
What environment were your Forms created in - and will they be deployed in
that same
environment - i.e. NT, Solaris, etc.???
