I run 7.2 and 7.3. I wrote O/S level scripts to shutdown and startup DB with SVRMGR. In it, I included scripts to pin some packages at startup. Nothing magical as Oracle8i ;)... better than nothing. Of course, you have to get sure DB is always shutdown/started using these scripts.
