I am faced with a task of migrating an existing database (I mean a set of tables that my application uses. Quit a big one, some 35 tables) to the next version of the database. In the process of this migration, certain table definitions will change, in the sense new columns will get added, certain tables will get dropped etc. I need advise on the best and efficient way I can go about this migration process. The new version of the database should contain data from the old database, except certain orphan records etc. All your valuable suggestions will be of great help to me. Thanks for the effort in advance.
