New at Oracle, How...?

Hi everyone. I'm a computer programmer in Iran, who's just beginning to learn Oracle. I've programmed in Foxpro 2.5 mostly, though I've also done some work in C.

I've been told that Oracle is a very wide topic and one can't/shouldn't just try to learn Oracle, but should rather choose a catagory like SQL or server...

Well, I don't really know what it's about yet, so I don't understand this stuff. What I'm asking here is if the above is true, and if I shouldn't try to learn the many sides to Oracle. Please also tell me what catagories there are, which are more in demand, and which two (or three or more) are/can usually be done by one single person.
