I get problem on shuting down the database.

I have created an account with DBA role by the following: create an account with DBA role in Security Manager create an repository account
grant SYSDBA in the server manager

When I use the instance manager come with the Oracle 8.0.5.0.0 to shut down or start the database, it is fine. But when I run the server manager (in text mode) to shut down or start the database, it doesn't work.
Can anyone tell me the reason?

Edmond
