The long way...remove it from the fail safe group and make standalone, then perform the database activities you like, then add back into fail safe group.

The short way...it appears that you can take the database offline (your not 7x24), so when it's offline, edit the init<SID>.ora file to include the archive log parameters (true, destination, format) then go back online..
