Linux install problem with RH 6.0

I've just installed Redhat 6.0 and am now tryng to install Oracle 8.05. The basic installation appears to go ok except for creating the starter database. The message log from the installer just says that an error occurred.

If I do the install without creating the starter database, everything goes fine. However, when I run svrmgrl from the command line to create the starter database by hand, it fails with an error message saying that it cannot read or find libclntsh.so.1.0. Doing a search, I located libclntsh.so.1.0 in <oracle_home>/lib and a link libclntsh.so in the same directory pointing to libclntsh.so.1.0.

I still somewhat of a Linux newbie, so I not quite sure how to troubleshoot this puppy. Any suggestions as to what I should be looking for or what I may have done wrong? Received on Sat May 15 1999 - 02:39:00 CDT
