Oracle 8 on win98 ORA-1019 error.... Please advice

Hi Oracle gurus,

i have win98 personnal oracle 8i.

Here is the action I am doing
start->programs->Personal oracle 8 for windows 95->start database I am getting the following error while I am startup database...

ORA-1019 Can not attach to ORACLE 8.

how to rectify this.. Can You give me an idea...

I checked the Virtual memory...
Let the windows manage my virtual memory settings...
